Nominate candidates by Dec. 31

If you know of a great journalist whose achievements have furthered the profession, you still have time to nominate her or him to the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame.

The deadline has been extended to Dec. 31, 2024, for nominations to the Class of 2025. The board of the hall of fame will consider nominees and choose inductees early in 2025.

The induction ceremony, traditionally held in the spring, has been moved to autumn to take advantage of the offerings of the hall’s partner, the Butler University College of Communication. IJHF and Butler began collaborating just last year.

“We already have received many worthy nominations for the 58th annual induction,” said IJHF board president Stephanie Salter. “But we want to make sure that we have given all those interested enough time to consider the leaders and innovators in journalism who should be honored.”

What has not changed, Salter said, is the hall’s emphasis on the excellence of journalists with Hoosier connections.

“Eligible candidates are those whose work has enhanced journalism and whose innovations have enabled news organizations to respond to change,” Salter said. “We also look for people whose dedication to mentoring and educating new journalists has ensured the future of the profession.”

The Class of 2025 inductees and the date of the ceremony will be announced in April.
