Stephen Key
Stephen Key has served as the executive director and general counsel for the Hoosier State Press Association since 1993. He represented the HSPA before the Indiana General Assembly for 29 legislative sessions, lobbying for the public's freedom of information rights and the interests of the Indiana newspaper industry.
In 13 years working for newspapers, Key was managing editor of the Noblesville Daily Ledger and assistant news editor for the Daily Journal of Johnson County in Franklin.
Key is president of the board for the Friends of Ernie Pyle, the nonprofit entity that operates the Ernie Pyle World War II Museum in Dana, Indiana, where the Pulitzer Prize-winning war correspondent was born.
Key also is a member of the board of the Indiana Coalition for Open Government, a citizen-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and increasing government transparency. He lives in the historic Irvington neighborhood in Indianapolis.
