Ernie Wilkinson spent 35 years at the Indianapolis Star working as state editor and directing coverage of major events. After two decades on the state desk, Wilkinson became the Star’s farm writer, producing a wide range of cutting-edge stories on topics such as the economics of tobacco and the agricultural effects of global change. He also wrote a series of stories involving Purdue scientists developing foods that can be grown in space to feed future astronauts.
